This program focuses on developing strong fundamentals in supply chain planning, procurement, operations, and distribution. It is designed to enhance professional competence in modern supply chain management practices.

Core Programme Structure – 4 Months

Module 1: Introduction to Supply Chain Management

Supply chain objectives, importance, decision phases, process view, competitive and supply chain strategies, achieving strategic fit, supply chain drivers, obstacles, framework, facilities, inventory, transportation, information, sourcing, and pricing.

Module 2: Designing the Supply Chain Network

Designing the distribution network, role of distribution, factors influencing distribution, design options, distribution networks in practice, network design in the supply chain, role of network, factors affecting network design decisions, and modeling for supply chain.

Module 3: Designing and Planning Transportation Networks

Role of transportation, modes and their performance, transportation infrastructure and policies, design options and their trade-offs, and tailored transportation.

Module 4: Sourcing Strategy

Sourcing, in-house or outsource decisions, third and fourth party logistics, supplier scoring and assessment, selection, design collaboration, procurement process, sourcing planning and analysis, pricing and revenue management.

Module 5: Information Technology in the Supply Chain

IT framework, customer relationship management, internal supply chain management, supplier relationship management, transaction management, and future of information technology in supply chains.

Module 6: Coordination in a Supply Chain

Lack of supply chain coordination and the bullwhip effect, obstacles to coordination, managerial levers, building partnerships and trust, continuous replenishment, vendor managed inventories, collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment.

Module 7: Dimensions of Logistics Management

Macro and micro dimensions of logistics, logistics interfaces with other functional areas, approach to analyzing logistics systems, logistics and systems analysis, techniques of logistics system analysis, and factors affecting the cost and importance of logistics.

Module 8: Demand Management and Customer Service

Inbound and outbound logistics linked to customer service, demand management, traditional forecasting, CPFR, S&OP, customer service, expected cost of stock-outs, and channels of distribution.

Practical Component – 2 Months

Industry Visits – Group Visit

  • Understand the supply chain in terms of supply chain drivers.
  • Understand 3PL and 4PL service providers and the services provided by them.
  • Identify a product or service and study the distribution system used and the reasons for using it.
  • Study IT applications employed by industries in their supply chain.

Project Work & Report Writing

Individual project report on Supply Chain Management and its implementation in industries, including business communication and report writing.
